Pandit Rajan Misra Fellowship
The Pandit Rajan Misra Fellowship was instituted by Living with Music and Anubhuti Trust to honour the memory and artistic legacy of Padma Bhushan Pandit Rajan Misra.
Created to recognise exceptional young musicians who demonstrate talent, discipline and a deep commitment to the tradition of Indian Classical Music, the Fellowship celebrates artistic excellence while encouraging the next generation of performers to continue their musical journey with dedication and integrity.
Each year, the Fellowship is awarded to deserving young musicians recommended by an esteemed panel of senior maestros. Beyond recognition, it seeks to inspire young artists to pursue a lifetime of learning, performance and service to the rich heritage of Indian Classical Music.
Fellowship Recipients
Vinayak Sahai (2024)
A distinguished young sarangi artiste of the Banaras Gharana, Vinayak Sahai received his early musical training from his grandfather, Pandit Vidya Sahai, and his father, Pandit Prabhu Sahai. He later came under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Pandit Rajan Misra and continues his musical journey with Padma Bhushan Pandit Sajan Misra.
Widely admired for his sensitive accompaniment and deep understanding of both khayal and thumri traditions, Vinayak has performed alongside many of India's foremost musicians and is regarded as one of the most promising sarangi players of his generation.
Ishaan Ghosh (2025)
One of India's leading young tabla virtuosos, Ishaan Ghosh represents a distinguished musical lineage and trained under his father, Pandit Nayan Ghosh. Equally accomplished as a soloist, accompanist and collaborator, he has performed with many of the foremost exponents of Indian Classical Music while also creating innovative projects that introduce the tradition to younger audiences.
Combining exceptional musicianship with artistic curiosity, Ishaan continues to expand the reach of Indian Classical Music through performances, collaborations and educational initiatives across India and internationally.
